Evening Excursions

To welcome everyone to our wonderful city, we will be offering three excursions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening focused on sightseeing and socializing. We have partnered with professional tour guides to provide you the best experience possible. All tours will be held in English. For these evening excursions, sign-ups and associated fees need to be done separately from the main conference registration fee. They are to be paid on site at the registration desk.

Guided walking tour through the city of Berlin. In the evening of Tuesday, 26th June, there will be a guided walking tour through the city of Berlin (ca. 3.5 h). It will be the perfect way to familiarize yourself with the German capital city. Learn about the rich history of Berlin and yet still get the inside knowledge on a modern day Berlin.  This Berlin Tour covers famous Berlin attractions, the most influential historical sights, and delves into stories of past wars, urban legends, and the city’s triumphs and tragedies.  One can expect to see highlights such as the Brandenburg Gate, Holocaust Memorial, Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, Bebel Platz (the book burning in 1933), Gendarmenmarkt, the Berliner Dom Cathedral, and many other places. Depending on the weather, the guide and the group may take one of many routes through the historic Mitte district.

Visit to the Parliament building and Reichtagskuppel (Reichstag Dome). Wednesday, 27th June, evening’s excursion will be a visit to the Parliament building and Reichtagskuppel (Reichstag Dome). The Dome’s 230-m vertical spiral walking tour offers a chance to see the city in a panorama as well as hear about the history of the Reichstag Building and its surroundings, the German Bundestag, the work of Parliament and nearby tourist attractions. There will be personal audio guides available in eleven languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Dutch and Chinese.

Boat cruise through Berlin. On Thursday, 28th June, there will be a boat cruise through Berlin (ca. 2.5 h). There you will have a chance to see all of what Berlin has to offer in a relaxed manner in the lovely, mild German summer. Berlin has two rivers – Spree and Havel – as well as lots of lakes and canals where ships and boats cruise. This tour leads alongside many historical and modern buildings and sights, green areas, industrial areas and urban landscapes. Learn about the city of Berlin and listen to stories from the districts, through which that tour leads. Plus, see the numerous beautiful bridges that the rivers are famous for!
